CELLO

Everyone has that one person who has everything you wanted. That person you always are playing second fiddle too. Either it’s a sibling or a friend. In the Korean Horror Film, Cello, this is the theme.

Cello stars Seong Hyeon-ah as Hong Mi Ju. Strange things begin to happen when Mi Ju buys her daughter ,Yoon-Jin, a cello.

Mi Ju starts to receive texts that read “Are you happy now? You should be.” Thinking it’s probably a bitter student of hers, she ignores them. A few nights later, Mi Ju's sister, Kyeong-ran, commits suicide, but is it really suicide?

Kyeong-ran is devistated by the sudden breakup between her and her fiancé. She locks herself in her room and refuses to come out. As Kyeong-ran cries she is looking at pictures of her and fiancé, as she stares into a picture on her wall, a ghost emerges through the picture and throws Kyeong-ran out of the glass window over the balcony, leaving her hanging by the curtains. The family does not a hear a peak from her room. Mi Ju decides to try to get her sister to come out for dinner but there is no answer, as Mi Ju is banging on her door, her daughter Yoon-Jin calmly awakes and goes over to the curtain opening it revealing her aunt hanging.

More strange things happen, one by one Mi Ju family begins to die and Yoon-Jin is acting strange. It is revealed in flashbacks that Mi Ju and her friend/rival Kim Ta-Yeoh competed continuously for top stops for Lead Cellist. It is also revealed that Mi-Ju and Kim were involved in a terrible car accident, but was it really all by accident? Or does Mi Ju have something to hide and is Kim Tae-Yeoh the cause of all these unfortunate accidents that keep happening?

Cello really takes the old fashion revenge plot to a whole new level. It’s not the same boring revenge story. Cello has twist after twist and wonderful gory and bloody visuals too keep you on the edge of your seat and make you wonder do you have any hidden enemies?
