Gurotesuku

When I reviewed "A Serbian Film", I had mentioned that I had picked up two more films while visting my town's recent horror convention. Before picking up the film I mentioned, I had picked up a film that had "Grotesque" written on it. Then I flip over the back, see a girl covered in and laying in blood with the tagline "Saw & Hostel were just appetizers." The vendor mentioned it was a insane film, and as being intirgued by the tagline, it was a go.

"Gurotesuku" starts with a young couple going for a walk after a date. A man is watching them from a van, very stalker like. He takes a hammer, and knocks the couple unconcious. The couple awakes, to find themselves in a room with this man, who has them tied up, and reveals to them that he will be Torturing them, If they have a will to live and he becomes sexually aroused, he will let them go free. What happens next is pure, insane torture, terror, and a fight to survive by the couple.

"Gurotesuku" really garned recognition last year. Nicolas Cage had gotten his hand on the film, which was rumored to have actual snuff footage. He watched the film, thought it was legit, and turned it over to the FBI. After investigating a early American distributor of the film, he had stated that the film was just made completly over the top. The filmmakers had then released a behind the scenes documentary called "The Gore Of Gurotesuku" during the investigation. The FBI viewed it, realized it was just a insane movie, and dropped the investigation.

"Gurotesuku" is another one of these films, that want to be extreme in any type of way possible. You can basically sum the films that follow in that description as wanting to revive the 70's/Early 80's Grindhouse films. "Hostel", and "Saw" are perfect examples of this. "Torture Porn" is another phrase that has been in associtation with them as well. "Gurotesuku" is all these, and more. The torture scenes are like nothing you have seen before, (some you may not want to revisit, and some might, dare I say, make you laugh) and with it's running time of 73 minutes, it throws everything at you, and never let's up. After this film, I felt exhausted, but yet laughed, because of the "I Can't Believe They Did That" type of things that were exhibited by the filmmakers. Overall, I may not make sense, but neither did this film. Recommended for true Gore Hounds, and like I mentioned with "A Serbian Film", A film for those who have no morals and limitations to their watching.
