The CW announced yesterday that "Supernatural" will officially be picked up for a ninth season.

"The Winchester brothers of SUPERNATURAL will continue to fight the forces of evil for a ninth season. SUPERNATURAL has seen a dramatic uptick in its ratings from last season, rising 15% among total viewers, 10% in adults 18-34 and 18% in adults 18-49.”

Wrekin Hill Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to teh Wesley Snipes film "GallowWalkers." No word on the release date.

Synopsis: “Gallowwalkers is the story of a mysterious gunman, Aman (Snipes), the son of a nun, who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. Her break with God curses her son to be hunted by all those who die by his hand – When he takes revenge on a gang that murdered his love, the gang rises as a cursed crew of undead warriors and hunt him mercilessly, seeking their ‘dying’ revenge.“

"How to Catch a Monster" will be Ryan Gosling’s writing and directing debut .Accroding to Screnrant, Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan is joining an acting crew that includes Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Eva Mendes and lauded character actor Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises, The Place Beyond the Pines).

"HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son, Bones, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive."

With a release date of March 29th, "Room 237" is a the much anticipated film about Stanley Kubrick's classic, "The Shining." The US trailer has been released (see below)

Synopsis: “After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. It was recently announced that Amazon Studios and Sony TV were teaming up produce a TV series based on the film Zombieland.

According to Deadline, "Sundance breakout Tyler Ross, star of indie Milkshake, and up-and-comer Izabela Vidovic have been cast as two of the four leads in Zombieland." No other plot details have been confirmed as of yet.

Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMEN, PROMETHEUS, MONSTER) will star in and produce the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel Dark Places to be written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (SARAH’S KEY), it was announced today by Exclusive Media’s Co-Chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East

Charlize Theron will play Libby Day, a woman who, at the age of 7, survives the massacre of her family and testifies against her brother as the murderer. Twenty-five yearslater, a group obsessed with solving notorious crimes confronts her with questions about the horrific event.

The first official trailer for "Final Girl," starring Wes Bentley, Logan Huffman, Abigail Breslin, Alexander Ludwig, Michael Trevino, Connor Paolo and Francesca Eastwood, has been released.

Synopsis: “Loner Veronica is new to school, shy and vulnerable the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.”

THR is reporting that both Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are in talks to star in "Godzilla," which is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

"Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are in talks to join Aaron Johnson in Godzilla, Legendary’s take on the classic Japanese monster.

Gareth Edwards is directing the film, which is currently embroiled in a producer dispute. Frank Darabont is currently doing a rewrite on the script. The logline is being kept under wraps but Heat Vision can tell you to expect plenty of monsters in this creature feature. Oh, and that Cranston will play Johnson’s step-father and Olsen his girlfriend. The project is heading towards a March production start. Warners, which has a 25 percent stake in the movie, will release the film May 16, 2014."
