We talked with actress, Candace Kita, about the movie.
Horror News Network: How did you get involved in The Coffin?
Candace Kita: Kipp Tribble, the director, contacted my manager directly. He saw me in other projects and I'm always so thankful for direct bookings, thanks Kipp!
Horror News Network: Tell us a bit about your character, Camille.
Candace Kita: Without giving away the plot, Camille is a drunken woman who's behavior allows the bad guy to get away from the protagonist. This is actually the second time I've played a drunk woman. The first time was on the series finale of Nip Tuck. I didn't know how to do a shot so Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon had to show me how. I don't even drink!
Horror News Network: How long were you on the set?
Candace Kita: We did night shoots, so every night we arrived at 8:30pm and usually wrapped at 6am. At this point, day becomes night and vice-versa. Try going to bed at noon with the sun shining on your face. It isn't easy.
Horror News Network: Is horror a passion of yours?
Candace Kita: The horror genre is my personal favorite. But then again, I was the kid who read coroner books for fun as a kid.
Horror News Network: What horror movies stand out as your favorites?
Candace Kita:Rosemary's Baby, The Shining, The Hellraiser series, Let The Right One In and my recent favorite is The Audition. If you haven't seen it, you have to check it out. I also might be working with an AMAZING director, Mziah, in the future. His work reflects a very stylized, avant guarde way of looking at the horror genre.
Horror News Network: Where can readers find out more information on you?
Candace Kita: Thanks for asking, I'm in the process of completely overhauling my website, www.candacekita.com. And I also have pages on My Space, Facebook and Twitter although I don't run those personally.
Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about the Coffin?
Candace Kita: When I first read Coffin, I sat down to read a few chapters. I ended up getting sucked in right away and read the whole script in one sitting. There is a funky plot twist very reminiscent of the old Twilight Zone episodes that I think you will enjoy!
