The second episode of Blade the Animated Series premiered on G4 TV January 20, 2012.
Episode Synopsis:
The episode opens with detectives called to a missing girl's apartment, which is one of many missing persons cases that are quickly stacking up in Japan. As Blade tracks more members of the vampire clan, Existence, Cops are called to a break in (which happens to be where Blade is battling the suck heads and their familiars).
The head detective breaks in and sees Blade killing a vampire. Stunned by what he sees, the detective is tries to bring Blade down to the station. Blade promptly turns the tables on the detective and tells him about the corruption in his station.
Blade leaves with the detective and the duo travel into the sewer system. Unbeknownst to them they are being tracked by Makoto, when they find a vampire who has all the missing persons strung up and draining their blood as a bank for other vampires.
A battle ensues with Blade and the vampire. The detective is left to cut down the girls and get them out of there where he hears the sound of hissing cats. He turns to see cats, controlled by the vampire preparing to attack. Makoto enters to save the detective and the captured girls by killing the ferocious felines.
Blade does battle with the vampire who reveals he is a "water–tiger" species. This species has the ability to do vicious damage in the water. As Blade does battle he is, of course, dragged into a large pool or water where the Daywalker is getting pummeled. Luckily for Blade, he has a magic sword. He uses it and cuts the water tiger wide open and takes him to deaths doorstep. The water vampire blows up the hideout causing everyone to flee and Makoto and Blade to settle their differences at another date.
The episode ends with Blade facing off against Noah Van Helsing and his dog, Razor.
Sinking our teeth into it…..
I think the second episode was an improvement upon the premiere.
Corrupt cops that were “familiars” for Vampire clans are nothing new to fans of the Blade franchise. It was a welcomed sense of familiarity. The chief officer said that they are all over, in the military, politics, etc.
This episode also showed cats that were controlled by a vampire. This, however, is something new to the Blade franchise. We usually see wolves, rats, etc., controlled by vampires. In vampire mythos cats are included in creatures that vampires have been known to control. Don’t think a dozen or so cats are too terrifying? Then you need to check this out:

Seriously, if a cat named Pinky can cause this much damage, what do you think a dozen stray cats controlled by a vampire can do?
We are also introduced to a different type of vampire, a water tiger. This character seemed to have pretty interesting skills and really took it to the Daywalker before his death. The episode also featured another trick from Blade’s “magic” sword, which seemed to make more sense than the first one.
Hopefully episode three will be another improvement, magic sword and all.
