The Walking Dead Season 2 - Episode 6 - Secrets
by: Jacki Clark

Meat
We begin this episode learning that not only is there walkers in the barn, but they are being fed gimp chicken to survive. This family is super weird! Oh, and I was right the walkers in the barn are mostly family, including Hershel’s wife and step son. Glen is very concerned by this little secret as he is not a good liar! And Glen keeping Lori’s secret has him offer to go back into town to get some abortion pills. (But he also brings her back prenatal vitamins just incase) Maggie goes with Glen for the supplies and tells Glen who is in the barn. She also, gets attacked by a walker and Glen saves her by bashing the thing’s skull in. Later Maggie tells Glen what he means to her. Something I think Glen reciprocates. Carl is up and moving around and seems to be in much better health. He sneaks a gun and asks Shane to teach him how to shoot. Something he gets into trouble for but it pays off because he is aloud to join Shane’s other “shooting students.” I have to say I have children and in a situation like this one they would know how to shoot along with the contents of “The Anarchist Cookbook!” Shane takes his class to work on their gun skills and Andrea seems to be the top of her class and graduates to moving targets courtesy of private lessons from Shane! After a small spat Shane talks Andrea back into the car to search for Sophia. They look in a subdivision where Sophia might have ended up, only to encounter a hoard of walkers. Andrea gets the hang of killing moving targets pretty fast during this scary situation with the help from Shane of course! After the fight with the walkers they get back into car in which they make a small detour for some crazy front seat sex…I told you! After their little “wild ride” they go back to camp. Where Dale oversteps his boundaries with Shane after he obviously gets a feeling about what happened between him and Andrea. Dale is much more involved in this episode as the “wise one.” Everyone begins talking to him and he is giving advice as any older character should in this kind of show! Lori is still struggling with the pregnancy and has still not told Rick. She does swallow the abortion pills but makes herself throw them up. Rick finds the wrappers. When he finds Lori she finally comes clean about the pregnancy and about her and Shane. Of course Rick being the “Gandhi” of the group understands. I’m not sure how I would react in his shoes; it is a fact in similar situations people do go toward the friends of the loved one who died for comfort.
Walkers
The walker that Glen and Maggie encounter is scary because he does get a hold of Maggie, but doesn’t bite her. And it’s very cool how the first hit by Glean knocks the walker’s head all the way hanging by a thread to the side. Then with his fury bashes in its head, definitely over kill for trying to hurt his girl! The hoards of walkers that Shane and Andrea encounter are massive in numbers. With Shane’s spot on shooting and Andrea learning very fast aren’t too much of a threat as they go down by shots to the head one by one. Also, I loved the house Andrea and Shane went into before the walkers found them there was what looked like a pile of dead walkers in one room with another pile of dead and burned up people in the garage. Nice!
My Flesh
In this episode I was interested to see how everyone is beginning to pair up and everyone’s character’s with the exception of Rick has changed and grown. Everyone will know about ol’ Hershel’s little secret soon and I am very curious to know how the group deals with that especially when they find out they aren’t welcome there anymore. I think Dale needs to back off Shane! I think Andrea isn’t going to be so annoying now that she has a gun and a little fun. I hope Daryl gets better soon because he is very interesting to me. Especially in this episode how he let’s Andrea off the hook so easily for shooting him! What do you guys think? Send me your questions and we’ll “chew the fat!” Until next week my fellow Gore Whores…
